Welcome to our horse riding activity for Curriculum Enrichment Week 2016. We would love you to come and join us for 4 days of horse riding at Wembury Beach Riding Stables.
Our activity is designed for students of all abilities, from complete beginners to the more experienced rider. Qualified instructors will ensure that you are matched to ponies and horses according to ability. Each day is filled with a careful balance of riding and animal management, ensuring you learn all aspects of how to look after your horse or pony as well as improving your riding skills. We would like to remind you that horse riding is an adventurous activity and that there is an element of risk involved but we will ensure that you are fully briefed on health and safety procedures at the stables and we will do our best to minimize any risks.
This course is designed to encourage confident horsemanship. While doing so, it also develops fitness and flexibility, helps to develop teamwork skills, encourages empathy with animals and builds friendships across different year groups. All that is required is a love of animals, a pair of flat-bottomed boots, sunblock and a waterproof coat.
A wider variety of horse activities will take place this year, which is reflected in the price. This year you will have a minimum of 6 riding sessions and will take part in a selection of the following (dependent on ability and of course the weather):
Assessment lessons
Jumping clinics
Obstacle races
Coastal hack
Gymkhana with musical poles
Learning to plait
Treasure hunt
Art and craft
Bathing a pony
Picnic hack
Woodland ride
Pony Show
Stable management
In addition you can always relax and enjoy the stables ‘Small Animal Corner’ with lots of little furry pets.
This activity is open to all students and numbers are strictly limited this year to 16 to ensure more riding time available. You will be supervised by myself and Mrs Laing in addition to the super stable instructors.
To reserve a space please pay a deposit of £33 via Parent Pay as soon as possible. Spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. The balance of the trip must be paid in full by the 18th June and payments may be made in 3 more equal instalments during this time.
Should you wish to discuss the trip in further detail, please do not hesitate to contact me in the English office or email me on .
We look forward to seeing you on our trip!
